So, whether you are looking to add a little bit of light or want to create a focal point in your bedroom, read on for some ideas!

What are bedroom pendant lights?

Barn Pendant Lights are best used to provide ambient lighting in a room. Whilst a modern Bedroom typically has LED downlights throughout (which we recommend!), unfortunately Bedrooms loses its restful (or sexy!) vibe when sterile “white on white” ceilings hits your retinas in the morning or late afternoon.

When creating a restful atmosphere, Pendant lights are ideal, coming in a variety of shapes, sizes, and styles. Looking to add a touch of rustic charm? That’s where our pendants literally shine – When choosing pendant lights for your bedroom, it is important to consider the size of the room and the height of the ceilings.

Pendant lights can be hung alone or in groups, sometimes less really is more, so minimising the amount of pendants used, and opting for the more decorative styles next to bedheads or side drawers make for a better experience.

How to choose the right pendant light for your needs?

There are a few things you’ll need to consider when selecting pendant lights for your bedroom.

First, think about the size and scale of the pendant in relation to the room and furniture. A pendant that’s too large or small will look out of place and feel disproportionate. Our Shop-By-Shade page gives you a decent indication of sizes for you to consider.

Second, decide how much light you need. Pendants can provide ambient (next to bedrooms, task (mirrors), or accent lighting (over the bed?). If you need pendant lights to provide ambient light, make sure they emit enough lumens. Our range of LED Light Bulbs from VintageLED.com.au  are ideal for bedroom installations, select the 2200K Bulbs, and G95 Frosted if you want a softer light spread.

Third, think about the style of the pendant you want. Do you want a modern pendant light (like our Old Dixie), a more traditional one (like our Universal), or maybe and Industrial Vibe (like our Original)? There are many different styles of pendant lights to choose from so take your time browsing until you find the perfect one. Giving us a call to discuss can certainly take some weight off your shoulders for those uncertain about their own bedrooms. We spend enough time around lighting to have some ideas!

Finally, consider the finish of the pendant light. You want a finish that complements the other finishes in the room such as hardware, furniture, and flooring. If you need ideas for colours, our Shop-By-Colour page shows are available range of colours, so if you are looking Hamptons, Coastal, Queenslander, and many many more – we’ve got the colour you need or have something close to it. Your colour will create your own style, so feel free to experiment with something you’ll love, that’ll make you want to spend more time in the bedroom.

Where to place pendant lights in your bedroom?

The most important factor to consider when placing pendant lights is the height of the ceiling. If your ceiling is low, you’ll want to hang the pendants closer to the bed. If your ceilings are higher, you can hang them further away from the bed. Another factor to consider is how much light you want in the room. If you want a lot of light spread (for reading as an example), you’ll want to hang the pendants closer together. If you want less light (and less annoying partners), you can hang them further apart.

Pendant lights are a great way to add light to your bedroom without having to make any major changes to the room. They’re also relatively inexpensive, so they’re a great option if you’re on a budget.

How to install a pendant light?

Installing pendant lights in your bedroom can create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Here are some tips on how to install pendant lights:

#1 Choose the right location.

Pendant lights should be installed about 75cm from the head of the bedframe/mattress.

#2 Hang the pendant light at the correct height.

The bottom of the pendant light should be about eye level when you’re standing. In the case of side-tables, its worth ensuring that the length you want, is based on your height (and your partner height also!) otherwise if you’ve got a 2m giant in the bedroom, their eye level might not be your ideal height.

#3 Use the correct type of pendant light.

Make sure to use a pendant light that is specifically designed for bedrooms. These pendants will be the perfect size and scale for your room. You don’t want a pendant that is too small or too large. Our Cafe Barn Pendant is a great example of directional ambient light, without glare your bedroom screen-time.

Pendant lights come in all different shapes, sizes, and styles. It’s important to find one that compliments your existing décor, so run through our “Shade, Colour, Mounting” checklist and decide for yourselves

#4 Install pendant lights on both sides of the bed.

This will create a symmetrical look and provide even lighting in the room. Even if you plan to be single for a few more days, weeks, or months – removing shadows from the bedroom usually has a positive effect.

Consider our Wall Light range of lighting to compliment where overhead pendants are unsuitable. Because most electrical points are located on either side of where a bed may be, running electrical should be (in most cases) quick and easy to do.

As you can see, there are many different ways to use pendant lights in your bedroom. Choose the right style and size pendant light for your room and follow these tips on how to install them. With a little bit of effort, you can create a warm and inviting space that you’ll love coming home to.

#5 Use pendant lights in combination with other types of lighting.

Pendant lights can be used in conjunction with table lamps, floor lamps, and recessed lighting to create a well-lit room. Just because we don’t sell them, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be considered. A light-switch will be a god-send during the Winter months when neither of you want to get out of bed to turn the light off! If you feel smart, consider a smart globe that you can turn off from your phone!

By following these tips, you can create a beautiful and inviting bedroom that is well-lit and stylish. Pendant lights are a great way to add style and function to your space. With a little bit of planning, you can create a stunning bedroom that you’ll love coming home to.
