WS975-Galvanised is a premium, hand-painted finish manufactured from quality fine metallic paints and Acrylic Etch Primers designed to age with the building and surrounds. You'll be probably asking yourself, "Great, but why so expensive?"

    1. Its hand-dabbed/finished, in Australia, by Humans.
    2. The paint is expensive - 8Ltrs of this formula costs $800
    3. Each fixture/batch requires the same pattern/colour mix.
    4. We don't keep stock - All parts needs to be batched.
    5. WE ONLY PREPARE THIS FINISH ONCE PER MONTH.

By checking this box, you acknowledge a minimum wait-time of four weeks (1 calendar month) from the date of purchase where purchased after the 20th of any month. Warranties are limited to two-years from the date of purchase for this finish.

[ETF] - Tiberius is neither Brass or Gold...Its unique

Electro Tiberius Flat (ETF) is a premium, zero gloss/flat powder-coated finish designed to replicate precious metals without the expense associated with. We've never called Tiberius "Brass" nor "Gold" as the colour is better characterised as a "Bronze/Green Patina" however that's exactly what customers call it. Our Tiberius Flat finish looks amazing in the right surrounds (Got Monument? Excellent Choice!) however Tiberius will simply not match your kitchen taps, brass handles, or anything you've already got installed due to its unique colour mixture. With a 25 year guarantee from Dulux, Tiberius Flat (and all Electros!) are designed to last decades to the point it'll probably become its own vintage with time.

    1. Buy Tiberius Flat to contrast and compliment Colorbond® Monument
    2. If you've got too much Black/Darker Colours in the area - Tiberius will make it "pop"
    3. Don't buy Tiberius if you want to match something else

By checking this box, you acknowledge that you've read the above statement.

    Glass Options

    [CLR] Clear Glass

Our simple Clear Glass is designed for the maximum amount of light output you can possibly obtain from any globe. Made from thick glass, light dispersal is maximised. If you'd like to have an additional styling benefit consider using a vintage styled LED bulb (Edison LED Filament) or the typical incandescent bulbs for ambient lighting.

    [FRS] Frosted Glass

Our frosted glass is manufactured right here at Barn Light. Using our handy sandblaster, the inside of the glass is blasted with a fine garnet media to produce a halo effect around the shade. Best used if a higher wattage bulb is required and you need to hide the hideous thing.

    [RIB] Ribbed / Prismatic Glass

The "prettiest" and most expensive. Hand-blown by master glassblowers in New Jersey, USA, these prismatic or simply 'ribbed' pieces of glass are designed for both ambiance and lighting brilliance. Enjoy the shadows dancing upon your wall while dining and entertaining.

    Ceramic E27 or Integrated LED

    E27 Lampholder

Our Standard Ceramic E27 (Edison 27mm) Lampholder that suits "screw in bulbs". You can find your preferred 27mm ES bulbs at your local hardware store. Maximum Wattage is 100W Incandescent. Lamps for all lights except for those with glass (60W).

We call this 'dumb wired' since there is nothing between the lampholder and the supply wires. Input Voltage is [email protected]

Our "designed for purpose" Atomic LED lighting uses a integrated LED fitting courtesy of the Research & Design Efforts of Barn Light USA & CREE Lighting USA. Colour Temperature (Kelvin)

2700K - Incandescent Yellow / Intimate, Cozy, Personal

2700K refers to the colour spectrum of light that we commonly associate with candle light, home, sunset, and the soft dancing of flames of the fireplace. Most Australians will have grown up under the warmth and homely atmosphere we can associate with incandescent lighting.

For the Consumer: This is the light that you are probably most familiar with seeing around the home. The warm glow is reminiscent of the sunset or a flame. Common applications area: Bedrooms & Living Rooms

For the Designer: Those designing for restaurant & hotels are encouraged to use warm lighting as for the most part, restaurants and hoteliers want to create an inviting and intimate environment. This is why designers often choose warmer light sources with dimmers. Take notice that you can always adjust the lighting throughout the evening to encourage customers to take the time to relax.

4000K - Cool White / Clinical, Warehousing, Stadiums

4000K - When you require precision, clarity, and a clean environment. When you need precision and the ability to see your subject clearly, cool white lighting is ideal. These color temperatures are going to be 4000K or higher for specialist applications.

For the Consumer / Mechanic: If you are using your garage as a work space, and are tired of trying to find that 13mm socket that's fell in the entire for n'th time today, you will want to use clean crisp lighting. This will bring clarity to any project you are working on and create the safest working environment.

For the Designer: Compared to a clothing retail (3500K) store, supermarkets typically opt for a slightly higher color temperature. This creates a better environment for examining foods and also makes the colours pop to makemarketing packaging more appealing.

Note for the Designers: We do NOT recommend colour temperatures over 3500K for retail environments as a these light sources are more commonly "too blue" and can make customers look unhealthy. This leads them to leave the store without making a purchase.. and looking for sunglasses. 4000K~5000K has specialist lighting applications, namely medical, warehousing, and sports stadiums. If you require a lighting specification to suit, contact us!

Our "designed for purpose" LED lighting uses a integrated LED fitting courtesy of the Research & Design Efforts of Barn Light USA & CREE Lighting USA. We have engineered a 48V Dimmable Driver, Heatsink, and LMH020 LED Module to provide an unparalleled lighting solution to a variety of environments. Choose from a range of 850Lumen through to 3000Lumen modules and four colour temperatures each.

All fittings are provided with a purposely designed enclosure for wall mounting, flexible, and fixed stem installations. The installation method to install these units is the same as our standard fittings.

Input Voltage is [email protected] to the driver, Dedicated dimming wires, Output Voltage is 48V. LED draw varies, please refer to our Fully Integrated LED Modules page for further information.

The standard cheap A60 bulb is what we call the standard "pear" bulb that shaped our childhoods.

Take notice that you can always adjust the lighting throughout the evening to encourage customers to take the time to relax and open your wine-list and their chequebook.

    3000K - Warm White

3000K - For the environments that entail completing tasks with a degree of clarity. Given the small bump up from 2700K Incandescent light, 3000K is still within the same realm of relaxation and ambience lighting.

For the Consumer: A bathroom is still a place in your home where you require want warm light levels, but slightly higher so that you can see where that errant whisker or eyebrow that needs removal (maybe both!) and see a brighter, more youthful reflection in the mirror. You won't miss lipstick smeared teeth or collars!

For the Designer: Kitchens are usually a social place that becomes a room to elicit your culinary talents. 3000K will assist in presenting an accurate CRI (Colour Rendering Index; the way we see colour) that shows colour accurately. This will ensure that the Chicken is cooked all the way through (by way of pink being highly visible) or if the Egg white needs a few more seconds. This will let you see the true colour of the food presented to you.

    3500K - Neutral White

3500K - Circadian lighting theory will tell you that the brain is most alert in the middle of the day when light levels move into the pure white areas of the spectrum. We use this colour temperature to our advantage (to the detriment of our sleeping patterns) where people need to focus and remain alert. Neutral tones (small yellow mix) tends to reduce the stress of a common work day.

For the Consumer: Keeping your home office or the laundry in this colour temperature will ensure that the tasks will always be at the forefront of your mind* (conditions apply). 3500K will keep employees alert yet relaxed, all without a coffee maker!

For the Designer: Retail stores need to create an inviting environment on the warm side of the scale, this allows your customers to see the true qualities of your products such as clothing.

    4000K - Cool White

4000K - When you require precision, clarity, and a clean environment. When you need precision and the ability to see your subject clearly, cool white lighting is ideal. These color temperatures are going to be 4000K or higher for specialist applications.

Frequently Answered Questions

The Ceiling Canopy / Ceiling Rose

We supply a 125mm Ceiling Rose made from 1mm Electro-Galvanised Steel, with a 13mm Centre hole powdercoated in Black Ace to compliment our Standard Black Cord. Height is 23mm tall.

Cross bar

We provide a steel “Cross Bar” with 1/2″ threaded in the centre. This fixing the cable to enter the plastic bushing supplied with some clearance ensuring the “break point” of PVC or cables is minimised.

Recyclable Packaging?

Yup, everything is then packaged into a brown or white paper bag and marked with your colour, size, installation instructions, and any applicable warnings

Outdoor Rated Cables

Our Standard Black Cord [SBC] / Standard White Cord [SWC] are designed for outdoor usage.

Indoor-Only Cables

All other types of cables are designed for internal use only. This may be due to single insulation (French Braided Twist), or Polyester jackets (Black Cloth Cord) that contain non uv-treated cables.

Cable Length

We cut all of our cable off 100m spools. The supplied length of 1.5m is provided for all cable styles. If you require additional lengths further than 2m long (3.5m TOTAL), we can supply a quotation separately.

Indoor Rated Canopy

For all of our Pendants, a dry location must be selected for the installation/termination point. This means that water cannot be present in the immediate area at any stage.

We use a liquid-tight cord-grip that ensures water cannot enter the electrical assembly located within the shade however no such cord-grip exists with the ceiling.

An example; An outdoor alfresco area may have the pendant occasionally exposed to the elements however installation must be completed in a recessed, dry location i.e. within the structure so that water cannot ingress. Outdoor Rated Pendants (IP44) and up, can be placed in full weather conditions so long as the ceiling is “dry”.

All Barn Light Lighting takes a common “E27 / Edison Screw / ES / Screw Bulb” that you’ll find at your local hardware, or grocery store.

Yup – We use a ceramic Edison Screw (E27) Lampholder.

Whats.. Better? Ceramic?!

Our ceramic/porcelain Lampholders are simply designed to take as much heat as possible (Yes, We build better lighting than our competitors) without effecting the mounting / electrical cabling. Our outdoor pendant lighting is based on decades old, reliable, vintage engineering.

Standard Outdoor Barn Lights – 100W

If you select the “default” arrangement which is simply marked as “Edison Screw Lampholder (No Bulbs Supplied)” with Standard Black Cord – You’ll have the ability to install a 100W Bulb.

Atomic Barn Lighting / Indoor Rated Cables – 60W

If you select an Accessory such as “Atomic Cast Guard” or French Braided Twist – When installed with Glass, you’ll be limited as the sealed glass enclosure becomes a literal heat-trap, resulting is a lesser Wattage rating (60W)

You can opt to NOT install the glass at your discretion however Atomic “Fully Integrated LEDs” required the installation of glass at all times.

What you *may* want to know if considering purchasing elsewhere

Our competitors will be supplying you with a thermo-plastic lamp-holder which becomes brittle & cracks over time, with a maximum of 60W being typical (also.. not organic / not recyclable). Need to light up an area? Nope – You’ll now need to install spotlights to find your car in Winter.

Smart Bulbs – When you need a kaleidoscope of colour.

Yes, our lighting is fully compatible however we suggest that you try one bulb in the most furthest away location from your wireless signal. We manufacture with Aluminium, and you’ll likely install your new Barn Lights onto Brick or Concrete walls. Neither of these materials are ideal for wireless signals to penetrate through so tread cautiously.

Yup – We hear you, this is sounding too good to be true for a lighting company.

Frankly (the short answer is “Yes”), we could write a page about this – so we did..  ->  Are Barn Lights Dimmable?

We’d normally recommend our stem pendant lights or flush mount ceiling lights in these conditions as a fixed installation provides less wind related issues for most entrances.

If you’ve got a ceiling that can take some weight, an upgrade to optional Atomic Cast Guards which increase the IP Rating to IP55 and provide an interesting focal point.

For the Kitchen

You’ll want Barn Pendants like our The (35cm) Universal, (40cm) Original, or (40cm) Wesco for kitchen areas.

A typical 1.8m-2.1m (x 900|1200mm) Island bench should have 3x pendants installed equally spaced provide sufficient light during the daytime and evening. For every 400mm of space, the addition of one extra pendant is preferable. The higher you install your pendants, the greater light dispersal, the less pendants are required. Whilst balance makes sense, its not always easy to visualise online!

Our Barn Pendants would typically be installed over the kitchen island bench rather than over the dining room table. If you need the ability to raise and drop the height of your dining room table lighting – we recommend our Industrial Chain Hung Pendants

For the Bathroom

“The smaller, the better” – Sparkie dependant, we insist upon using the cast guard & glass to reduce water exposure (think steam) and diffuse light more evenly (Atomic Cast Guard drops the bulb to just before the shade rim in most shade models).

We’d normally recommend our stem pendant lights or flush mount ceiling lights in these areas as a fixed installation provides less wind related issues for most entrances.

For Walkways, a shorter pendant drop will provide less momentum for pendants to swing.

For Garages, a long pendant with visually equal drops will always look aesthetically pleasing while providing a decent quality light. A fully integrated led may be your best bet for future proofing if the budget allows for the expense.
