With a passion for character-filled homes, Zoe Ella gets very excited by classic design.
The colours, shapes and curves of old-world features appeal to her sense of style. She has turned this love into the craft of ‘Upcycling’, restoring retro furniture and fixtures to houses looking for that recaptured nostalgia.
Zoe has been capturing that old-school charm along NSW’s Central Coast since 2014, when she started Mammaroux to do exactly that – restore classic items. Today Zoe uses them as part of stylish retro décor renovations, including her own home!
“Katandra is my latest project and my current home, so this has been an exciting renovation,” she says, “From the moment we purchased the property, I had an overwhelming immediate vision of how we could transform this tired beauty.”
The property is a massive, six-bedroom Tudor-style gabled home built in the 90s and was in need of considerable restoration, but had the most fabulous bones.”
Zoe set herself the task of not only restoring, but renovating with rural flair, “Everything I chose from a design perspective needed to look authentic and complimentary to the rural setting.”
Confessing her obsession with Classic American architecture, Zoe designed Katandra to be a fusion of Cape Cod, Hamptons and Modern Farmhouse, so of course she needed lights to match.
“Goosenecks have been on my radar since the first vision board for this renovation. After many hours of flicking through American design magazines and Pinterest I was adamant they would feature, if not be the star!”

Zoe didn’t go for half-measures either, choosing the big-dish The Original on a gooseneck so nobody would miss the statement it would make. She is also looking to bring the Barn Light magic into the Pool Room. High praise indeed!
“We get so many compliments on the exterior goosenecks, I’m looking forward to bringing them inside too!”
