    Cast Guard Style

    [CGG] Standard Cast Guard

Our Standard Cast Guard is made from die-cast aluminium, threaded at the base, for affixing to the bottom of our shades & Atomic family of products. Designed to withstand any decent amount of shock to protect the glass and globe within. 90% of customers choose this guard.

    [TGG] Heavy Duty Cast Guard

Our Thick or 'Heavy Duty' Cast guard is designed to be both idiot and vandal proof. Made using the same die as our Standard, this bulkier cousin is ideal for pubs, clubs, restaurants, and any place you might find flying beer bottles. Ultimately the strongest of our cast guard, it also permits the least amount of light out.

    [WGG] Nautical Wire Guard

If the ship has sailed, and you want to remember the experience - our Nautical Wire Guard is just for you. Made from steel wire, this guard is designed to allow the most light output while providing some protection. Best used where beach balls and tennis balls are frequently used.

    Glass Options

    [CLR] Clear Glass

Our simple Clear Glass is designed for the maximum amount of light output you can possibly obtain from any globe. Made from thick glass, light dispersal is maximised. If you'd like to have an additional styling benefit consider using a vintage styled LED bulb (Edison LED Filament) or the typical incandescent bulbs for ambient lighting.

    [FRS] Frosted Glass

Our frosted glass is manufactured right here at Barn Light. Using our handy sandblaster, the inside of the glass is blasted with a fine garnet media to produce a halo effect around the shade. Best used if a higher wattage bulb is required and you need to hide the hideous thing.

    [RIB] Ribbed / Prismatic Glass

The "prettiest" and most expensive. Hand-blown by master glassblowers in New Jersey, USA, these prismatic or simply 'ribbed' pieces of glass are designed for both ambiance and lighting brilliance. Enjoy the shadows dancing upon your wall while dining and entertaining.

    Ceramic E27 or Integrated LED

    E27 Lampholder

Our Standard Ceramic E27 (Edison 27mm) Lampholder that suits "screw in bulbs". You can find your preferred 27mm ES bulbs at your local hardware store. Maximum Wattage is 200W Incandescent. Lamps for all lights except for those with glass (100W).

We call this 'dumb wired' since there is nothing between the lampholder and the supply wires. Input Voltage is [email protected]

    High Performance Integrated LED

*** No warranty applies for LED units installed without Glass! ***

Our "designed for purpose" Atomic LED lighting uses a integrated LED fitting courtesy of the Research & Design Efforts of Barn Light USA & CREE Lighting USA. We have engineered a 42V Dimmable Driver, custom engineered Heatsink, coupled with a high performance CXA2520 LED Module to provide an unparalleled lighting solution to a variety of environments. Lumen Output is 1600lm.

All fittings are provided with a purposely designed atomic enclosure for wall mounting, flexible, and fixed stem installations. The installation method to install these units is the same as our standard atomic fittings.
Input Voltage is [email protected] to the driver, Output Voltage is 42V. LED draw varies, please refer to our Fully Integrated LED Modules page for further information.

    Colour Temperature (Kelvin)

2700K - Incandescent Yellow / Intimate, Cozy, Personal

2700K refers to the colour spectrum of light that we commonly associate with candle light, home, sunset, and the soft dancing of flames of the fireplace. Most Australians will have grown up under the warmth and homely atmosphere we can associate with incandescent lighting.

For the Consumer: This is the light that you are probably most familiar with seeing around the home. The warm glow is reminiscent of the sunset or a flame. Common applications area: Bedrooms & Living Rooms

For the Designer: Those designing for restaurant & hotels are encouraged to use warm lighting as for the most part, restaurants and hoteliers want to create an inviting and intimate environment. This is why designers often choose warmer light sources with dimmers. Take notice that you can always adjust the lighting throughout the evening to encourage customers to take the time to relax.

4000K - Cool White / Clinical, Warehousing, Stadiums

4000K - When you require precision, clarity, and a clean environment. When you need precision and the ability to see your subject clearly, cool white lighting is ideal. These color temperatures are going to be 4000K or higher for specialist applications.

For the Consumer / Mechanic: If you are using your garage as a work space, and are tired of trying to find that 13mm socket that's fell in the entire for n'th time today, you will want to use clean crisp lighting. This will bring clarity to any project you are working on and create the safest working environment.

For the Designer: Compared to a clothing retail (3500K) store, supermarkets typically opt for a slightly higher color temperature. This creates a better environment for examining foods and also makes the colours pop to makemarketing packaging more appealing.

Note for the Designers: We do NOT recommend colour temperatures over 3500K for retail environments as a these light sources are more commonly "too blue" and can make customers look unhealthy. This leads them to leave the store without making a purchase.. and looking for sunglasses. 4000K~5000K has specialist lighting applications, namely medical, warehousing, and sports stadiums. If you require a lighting specification to suit, contact us!

Our "designed for purpose" LED lighting uses a integrated LED fitting courtesy of the Research & Design Efforts of Barn Light USA & CREE Lighting USA. We have engineered a 48V Dimmable Driver, Heatsink, and LMH020 LED Module to provide an unparalleled lighting solution to a variety of environments. Choose from a range of 850Lumen through to 4000Lumen modules and four colour temperatures each.

All fittings are provided with a purposely designed enclosure for wall mounting, flexible, and fixed stem installations. The installation method to install these units is the same as our standard fittings.

Input Voltage is [email protected] to the driver, Dedicated dimming wires, Output Voltage is 48V.

The standard cheap A60 bulb is what we call the standard "pear" bulb that shaped our childhoods.

Take notice that you can always adjust the lighting throughout the evening to encourage customers to take the time to relax and open your wine-list and their chequebook.

    3000K - Warm White

3000K - For the environments that entail completing tasks with a degree of clarity. Given the small bump up from 2700K Incandescent light, 3000K is still within the same realm of relaxation and ambience lighting.

For the Consumer: A bathroom is still a place in your home where you require want warm light levels, but slightly higher so that you can see where that errant whisker or eyebrow that needs removal (maybe both!) and see a brighter, more youthful reflection in the mirror. You won't miss lipstick smeared teeth or collars!

For the Designer: Kitchens are usually a social place that becomes a room to elicit your culinary talents. 3000K will assist in presenting an accurate CRI (Colour Rendering Index; the way we see colour) that shows colour accurately. This will ensure that the Chicken is cooked all the way through (by way of pink being highly visible) or if the Egg white needs a few more seconds. This will let you see the true colour of the food presented to you.

    3500K - Neutral White

3500K - Circadian lighting theory will tell you that the brain is most alert in the middle of the day when light levels move into the pure white areas of the spectrum. We use this colour temperature to our advantage (to the detriment of our sleeping patterns) where people need to focus and remain alert. Neutral tones (small yellow mix) tends to reduce the stress of a common work day.

For the Consumer: Keeping your home office or the laundry in this colour temperature will ensure that the tasks will always be at the forefront of your mind* (conditions apply). 3500K will keep employees alert yet relaxed, all without a coffee maker!

For the Designer: Retail stores need to create an inviting environment on the warm side of the scale, this allows your customers to see the true qualities of your products such as clothing.

    4000K - Cool White

4000K - When you require precision, clarity, and a clean environment. When you need precision and the ability to see your subject clearly, cool white lighting is ideal. These color temperatures are going to be 4000K or higher for specialist applications.

Here's your Frequently Answered Questions

The Backing Plate itself.

Our Die-Cast Wall Backing Plate [WBP-25mm / WBP-20mm] is 120mm in diameter and adds 30mm to your Wall Projections. The mounting screws are 90mm apart (Left/Right) across from each other or 45mm from the Centre Point. You can opt to install your wall backing plate on a 90° Angle in order to affix to 100mm square posts (for example).

Adaptor Bracket

We provide a universal “Adaptor Bracket” that allows you to affix this bracket to your structure using any of your typical fixings (think Timber Screws/Concrete/Masonry Fixings), then affixing your Wall Backing Plate using our supplied 2x 8-32 x3/4″ (M4 sized) Pan Phillips Screws into said Adaptor Bracket.

Recyclable Packaging?

Yup, everything is then packaged into a brown or white paper bag and marked with your colour, size, installation instructions, and any applicable warnings

All Barn Light Lighting takes a common “E27 / Edison Screw / ES / Screw Bulb” that you’ll find at your local hardware, or grocery store.

Yup – We use a ceramic Edison Screw (E27) Lampholder.

Whats.. Better? Ceramic?!

Our ceramic/porcelain Lampholders are simply designed to take as much heat as possible (Yes, We build better lighting than our competitors) without effecting the mounting / electrical cabling. Our outdoor wall lighting is based on decades old, reliable, vintage engineering.

Standard Outdoor Barn Lights – 200W

If you select the “default” arrangement which is simply marked as “Edison Screw Lampholder (No Bulbs Supplied)” – You’ll have the ability to install a 200W Bulb.

Atomic Barn Lighting – 100W

If you select an Accessory such as “Atomic Cast Guard” – When installed with Glass, you’ll be limited to 100W as the sealed glass enclosure becomes a literal heat-trap. You can opt to NOT install the glass at your discretion however Atomic “Fully Integrated LEDs” required the installation of glass at all times.

What you *may* want to know if considering purchasing elsewhere

Our competitors will be supplying you with a thermo-plastic lampholder which gets brittle & cracks over time, with a maximum of 60W being typical (also.. not organic / not recyclable). Need to light up an area? Nope – You’ll now need to install spotlights to find your car in Winter.

What’s.. a Watt?

Back in the olden days of Edison, Tesla & General Electric the creation of tungsten filaments began to light up the world – Simply put, the higher the wattage usage (electricity) the brighter the light. The usage of “Watts” was quite literally a measurement of heat generated since voltages were common  (220Volts) and the only element that changed was the amount of electricity drawn. Obviously… Draw too much electricity and things either start to melt, explode, or otherwise provide some dangerous entertainment. So limits were decided upon. That measurement was the basis to how electricity has been integrated with the lighting market ever since. These “modern” days, we use “Lumens” (L) and “Lumens per Watt” (lm/W) to rate lighting output and electricity usage.

Smart Bulbs – When you need a kaleidoscope of colour.

Yes, our lighting is fully compatible however we suggest that you try one bulb in the most furthest away location from your wireless signal. We manufacture with Aluminium, and you’ll likely install your new Barn Lights onto Brick or Concrete walls. Neither of these materials are ideal for wireless signals to penetrate through so tread cautiously.

Yup – We hear you, this is sounding too good to be true for a lighting company.

Frankly (the short answer is “Yes”), we could write a page about this – so we did..  ->  Are Barn Lights Dimmable?

For Entryway and Porch Lighting, our Industrial Wall Sconce range would typically be better suited for smaller passages. Older homes typically have newer exterior decking which drops the installation point from 1.8m to any deviation, causing issues obtaining replacement lighting. If you need a SMALLER sized lighting fixture, our SG16 Sconce Gooseneck Arm is highly recommended for smaller shades (especially <30cm).

The standard installation point for these areas is typically 1.8m AFFL (Above Finished Floor Level) for older federation/Queenslander homes.  Newer/Modern Homes typically 1.8m~2.1m AFFL based on the purpose of the light.

It’s a visual thing and there’s no rule book that says you HAVE to hang it at a certain height. Have fun with it ~ Tess from @Darlanahouse

Our PG12 Petite Arm (20mm) or SG16 Sconce Arms (25mm) are designed with you in mind.

Add 1/2 of the smallest shade diameter of The Cafe Gooseneck Barn Light to the Gooseneck Arm’s to get an overall projection.

PG12 = 30cm Projection
SG16 = 37cm Projection

This is what Barn Lights were made for. You want a large statement piece that throws light where its needed.

We recommend the G15 Gooseneck Arm for areas with walkways underneath, or our G22 Gooseneck Arm where you’ve got both height and projection available to you (probably a new build?)

G15 Gooseneck Arm = 47cm Projection
G22 Gooseneck Arm = 57cm Projection

Both goosenecks are bent the same, however our G22 Gooseneck Arm has a longer “tail” leading to the wall.

Quality Lighting that you can

Here at Barn Light – We take a no BS attitude to our lighting quality. We’re an Australian manufacturer – not an importer – We make real lighting solutions for real people, we design with real designers, we manufacture with real tools.

We underwrite our products with the longest warranty period AND longest return period of any online or storefront lighting store. You won’t find products of comparable quality, you will however find cheap knock-offs.

How do we know this? We get calls at least once a week from angry, frustrated, and frankly salty customers who have spent thousands on unique, expensive, imported designs that fall apart within twelve months. We’ve always been known as the backup supplier and now, thanks to our unique focus on customer service – we’re now the first choice of architects, interior & exterior designers, sparkies, set designers, and now… you!

If we had decided to import junk then, we wouldn’t have a reputation to uphold today. Trust the Australian Owned, Australian Made lighting company to provide lighting to Australian Standards.
