Our Industrial Styled, Post Mount Lights have distinctive edge unlike what Australia has been offered before. Consisting of die-cast, hand-spun, solid machined, and extruded aluminium – Its the best of durability, combined with the latest technology.

Our Post Top Lights have an integrated “Jelly Jar” or glass dome surrounding the light source with a Thick Cast Guard designed to mimic a shade’s harp for additional protection.

We’ve got all of our favourites – Atomic Warehouse, Atomic Industrial, Atomic Flared all that complement our classic, old-school décor whilst keeping our best-selling warehouse shades like the Original, Old Dixie, Universal and many many more installed high in your mind.

Looking to mix it up? Our standard warehouse shades can have an atomic accessory incorporated, providing the best of water ingress protection, durability, style, and LED technology – even extending to Solar PV if you really desire it.

Gone are the days where fiddly pieces of plastic adore your home, littering your garden with plastic parts as it decomposes in the sun. Buy a Barn Light – Buy it for Life.

Bunker Lights have historically been called “Explosion Proof Lighting”, originally designed to be “vapour-proof” when used in underground environments or near hazardous vapours.

For the average residential home-owner, you (hopefully!) don’t require any explosion-proof lighting – that said as Industrial Bunker Lights were originally originated from their purpose as sealed “work lights” in challenging environments – You can assured that their installation around water-sources like spas, swimming pools, and highly humid environments are ideal. Whilst we recommend that you check with your electrician before installation (rules differ between states), they’ll be delighted with the quality in their hands.

For areas that water is common, like pools, spas, and humid environments – our Industrial “Atomic” Bunker Lights are ideal. Common on the Australian market are “Marine grade steel”, “Brass” and finally “Die-cast Aluminium” are among materials that are commonly used in their construction.

Externally, wall lights with the appropriate IP certification can also be utilised for a variety of purposes on your home’s façade or throughout your outdoor spaces.

A Bunker Light at your front door or porch will welcome visitors. Outdoor lighting, such as up-down wall lights, can be used to highlight feature walls on your outside deck or to brighten both sides of your garage and driveway. A licensed electrician will be able to determine whether your chosen outdoor wall light is appropriate for your intended location.

Don’t go on a search for post mount lighting elsewhere – You’ll be shocked on the quality and have to replace it in a few years – Barn Light is a small business focusing on high-quality, Australian-made lighting that’s both elegant and practical — all produced right here in Australia!

Yes. However it’ll be expensive to ship and we’d need your postcode before we even consider selling it to you. We’ve designed our post-mount lighting to be modular, work with existing industry standard to provide a readily accessible product which can be installed nation-wide without much fuss.

We use a standardised (3″/78mm) cap size that fits over the following materials, both of which normally come in either 3.2 or 6.5m lengths.

  • Aluminium – 76mm OD (Outside Diameter)
  • Steel  – 65 NB (Nominal Bore)

Your local fencing or building joint will be able to supply these posts for you, and given the cost of freighting these days, you’ll likely want to settle on a pre-treated galvanised post. Cut it to whatever length you desire on-site, and walk away with a solution. More importantly, these companies will almost always have a mounting method to affix to. Should it be concrete, direct burial or similar styles and the accessories.

Our powdercoating oven can take at most, a 3.2m post, which for the average person, is more than tall enough however freighting a thick heavy pole is always going to be a feat deserving of a second thought.

Yes. When installing near water or high humidity – you’d need to protect the globe from water, salt-spray (corrodes metal fast!), and sand/salt. With our Post Mount Lighting, you’ll need our Atomic unit, however can choose to live without if budget is the concern.

All of our Atomic “Post Top” Lights come with an option for clear (free) or frosted glass (costs extra). These glass options also protect against insects (like wasps, bees, spiders) where installed closer to the ground so you’ll get less(er) invasions within your new lighting.

A jetty of our Outdoor Post Mount Lights might be a sight to behold, even more so looking back at your home from the beach. Our exterior wall lighting range can complete your home – complimenting your home’s style right through to the boat from the front-yard.

IP55 Atomic Upgrade Available

Where Post Mount Lights are concerned, our Atomic Range can be incorporated into all of our existing Warehouse Lighting styles, as an accessory. For ease of use, we haven’t added these lights to this category just yet, however are all available from the respective “Product Styler Pages” as “Atomic Cast Guard” or where the product is marked as “IP55 Atomic Upgrade Available” Look for the logo shown to the left.

Our Atomic “Post Top Lights” already include our IP55 credibility, enabling a more versatile installation environment. Please ensure installation instructions are followed closely to ensure your rating applies!

Why people love Industrial Wall Lights? – Chances are is that they’ve grown up with them, rarely had to see one repaired, and finally provide that finesse that shows rigidity, durability, permanence, and ultimately safety.

Historically, and in certain environments, Bunker Lights would be called “Explosion Proof Lighting” designed to be “vapour-proof” when used in underground environments or near hazardous vapours. These lights originated from their simple purpose as sealed “work lights” in challenging settings such as underground mines and nautical applications. You’d need to protect the glass, whilst also permitting the maximum light dispersal, thus the glass & guard were termed.

Assuming you mean the metals?

No. The wholesale cost of Copper (used in Brass manufacturing) vs. Aluminium, is typically 4x the cost. This means that for us to offer you a Brass alternative (and still remain profitable), we’d need to manufacture overseas or charge you 4-6x the cost of production and that’s not something we’re interested in.

Need more information? See the questions answered from a technical perspective across the way ->

Assuming you want a metallic or metallic with satin finish?

We’re working on a range of precious metallics that look like real metals, however coated in Australian-Made (and tested!) UV-Resistant clear coats. What will be the final result? We’re expecting a close-enough finish to the precious metals desired by the market. We haven’t been able to bring these finishes to the market until roughly September 2022 due to supply and costing reasons.

Yes – We’ve got a solution for you, however require that you contact us as its the same product with a different mounting method. If you are good at imagination; see our Heavy-Duty Wall Backing Plate for an idea of how it is affixed.

For brick; depending on the amount of room you have to assemble with, and the condition of the pillar, our standard stem canopy might be better suited – thus give us a call for available options.

Firstly – If you need posts; find a local fencing, steel, or aluminium supplier and work out the preferred height of your new lighting. The higher the post, the more likely you’ll want our Standard Post Mount Lights. The closer to the ground, our Post Top Lights are likely your preference. Find out if they can provided a post pre-cut, powdercoated, and/or with mounting brackets supplied.

Secondly – Consider the materials, do you need a high performance marine styled powdercoat, or are you looking to install undercover (or open-to-weather-walk-ways spaces) around the garden? Check our “Shop by Colour” for a list of quality outdoor specific coatings

Thirdly – Consider the walkways, local vegetation and wildlife, and proximity to things getting broken. Is someone likely to throw open their car-door by accident where installed a touch too close to the driveway?

Lastly – Consider your preferred technology. Is 220V or 12-24V DC already available to you? This is your cheapest option. If you’d rather the warmth of our Australian Sun cooking up the battery for an evening of a soft warm glow; Solar PV might be best for you. If Solar is your way forward, is there an area to run the PV and batteries to that is well lit throughout the day, or evening?

Steel (and Stainless where requested) Grub Screws are used to tighten and “lock” the post mount in place using a standard allen key wrench.

If you live in an area with high wind or weather- use a texta/sharpie/pencil to mark the grub screw holes with our product attached, remove our product, and then drill out to roughly the same size as the grub screw to ensure a very light/solid fit. For most customers this won’t be necessary as the weight of the post-mount is normally sufficient.

A neoprene gasket is provided for the internal to ensure no moisture can enter, leaving a sterile environment for the electrical to sit with.

For our Atomic Post Top Lights – We only provide a Heavy-Duty or “Thick” Cast Guard, otherwise they’d be nothing else to affix the shades to. Here’s all the benefits of the respective supplied, free-of-charge – Glass & Guards.

CLEAR GLASSFROSTED GLASS (Costs a touch extra!)
  • Provides the BEST Lighting dispersal
  • Made from clear blown-glass, not plastics, not frosted
  • Features a “Barn Light” branding.
  • 100% Recyclable
  • Thick, and difficult to break. yet easy to replace where damaged..
  • Made from the exact same mold as our Clear Glass
  • Is sand-blasted in-house at Barn Light, enabling quick turn around times.
  • Provides a “Halo Effect” – Providing a visual focus of direction.
  • Ensures your design is “complete” by hiding ugly light bulbs behind the frosting.
  • Amplifies the colour quality of the bulb supplied – ie. Yellow, looks Yellow.

HEAVY DUTY-CAST GUARD
  • Our most popular guard for commercial use
  • Provides the best protection against vandalism
  • Made from a thicker Die-Cast Aluminium
  • Features two solid rings divided by four quarters
  • Comes with tamper proof screw

Our Atomic Post Mount Lights are rated for outdoor use to a minimum of IP55 when installed by a licensed electrician, and following our installation guides.

Our Standard Range of Outdoor Post Mount Lights (all without “ATOM” or “CGG” in the product code) are IP44 Outdoor Rated.

If you’re installing your post-mounted lights in an area that is subject to severe weather conditions, choose from our range of powdercoat colours to ensure an enduring finish for all weather types. Secondly, we provide our products with all the necessary seals and gaskets. You won’t need anything more than silicon (and the sparkie!) to ensure the product is well sealed.

WE DON’T MANUFACTURE TO “IP67”

Why? Many reasons; however after a decade in the business;

You’ll find that *most* of the time, the person specifying has decided for the “best” rather than “what’s needed”.

Builders typically see the higher the IP rating, the higher the quality (and less building defects/issues) – not necessarily true but close enough. They’ll typically speak to a landscape designer for these lighting styles unless they already have a preference or forte for certain products.

Electricians see IP ratings as hard requirements for certain areas (ie. Showers/Pools etc) as it directly relates to how often they need to attempt to repair something if unsuitable since they will be underwriting the product to suit the environment it is installed to. Electricians are know for not wanting to install “garden lighting” that is not considered “LV” or “Low Voltage” – Given the average Aussie’s love of garden, its preferable to not have a hazard in the ground, thus we’d recommend our 12-24V (Low Voltage) or stand-alone Solar (36V) with incorporated battery packs etc.

Its their license “at risk”, Electricians are largely concerned when dodgy stuff is supplied – Keep in mind that we’ve got a 180-Day Return Policy (on the first unit) should you want a sample first to be assured of the quality.

When people ask us “Can I buy an IP67 Light from you” – We’ll answer “No” and direct you to this page to explain it, and more importantly have you understand how Ingress Protection works – on Solids & Liquids.

Yes. Only for 220V supplied and wired however. The original testing matrix showed  that our outdoor Post Mount Lights could adequately use a 100W Incandescent Lamp within an open enclosure (ie. No Glass Installed) otherwise a 60W Incandescent Lamp with Glass installed for Atomic Post Top Lights.

Yes – We’ve had production models of the CXA2520 LED Chipset in these models in the past, unfortunately they’ve been discontinued and we’re in the process of changing to a new LED style, ensuring this vintage industrial lighting style keeps up with the times.

The new variant of on-board LED technology with be CMU1516 – A very bright LED with minimal power usage (and heat!) than the prior models. The best benefit is the larger output of light, less wattage, and ultimately maintenance free! We’re looking to launch these towards the end of 2022 once supply lines re-open.

We’re finding that due to the associated costs, competing brands are selling “Brass” Lighting that is steel plated brass with a clear-coat (won’t last long outdoors) or else providing a brass enclosure on a steel base. Both of these styles will rust the moment that you get a touch of water under the substrate (technical term of metal’s coating) leaving you with ugly lines of brown rust on your home/building.

Stainless-Steel (Doesn’t Rust) vs. Carbon Steel (Rusts) of the same style – Stainless Steel can be at least 4x more expensive to manufacture from, and that’s just material supply. There is a reason coastal lights are very small when made from stainless steel.
