Passion, commitment and vision have driven Daniel Overton since entering the building Industry in 2004. Coming from a family of builders, Daniel was often up at 5am in the morning hoping to tag along to job sites with his father, Philip.
Fast forward a few years, upon completion of his trade qualification as a carpenter, Daniel was fortunate enough to gain invaluable years of experience with a dedicated local building company, who invested much time in Daniel’s training and development.

Background Information about yourself, property and business.
My name is Daniel Overton, a Sydney based Custom new home and renovation specialist. I created Select construction in 2008 with just one carpenter. Shortly after employing an apprentice and another carpenter. Fast forward to 2022, we now employ 24 full time employers with a mixture of carpenter/Forman, apprentices, labourers and admin staff as well as a part time interior designer. Along with my wife (Bec) full time in the office as well.
We work with architects, designers and home owners to deliver high end projects.
Over the last 4 years on top of building for these clients Bec and I have established a side business of purchasing properties with the idea to build/develop and then on sell. This property in Annandale was one of those properties.
40 Young Street was pretty much a full knock down rebuild with the exception of maintaining the front façade. As per all inner west projects they all have their fair share of challenges. The main challenge of this project was access, only having the front door for access for all machinery (excavator included) to take out all demo and excavation waste as well as to bring in all materials! This was tricky.

Why did you pick barn light Australia?
Barn light Australia was suggested to us by Karen (March Trading), our interior designer as the perfect fit for the front porch light for this project.
What style were going for on your project(s)?
We build to all designs, this property was an original inner west workers cottage when we got our hands on it. We have transformed it into a modern contemporary home, yet stayed in keeping with the inner west charm of a workers cottage by caringly restoring the front façade including re roofing the front to match the original galvanised roofing.
How do you find the quality of the lights?
Over all we found the quality of the product to be excellent

We will use them in the future, we don’t have them specified on any current projects but can see potential on some up coming projects for them to be used.
